Arrival in Warsaw and Transportation

Arrival by Air

The Warsaw Chopin Airport (Lotnisko Chopina) is located within ca. 8 kilometres from the city centre of Warsaw. The airport can be reached by a few lines of the municipal public transport.

The easiest way to get directly to the WUT location is by bus no. 188 or by a taxi. Detailed info about the airport and available transportation is here:

How to reach your hotel from the airport

  • By bus

Chopin Airport is served by five public bus routes, all with stops at Warsaw's key transport nodes and the most significant hotels. Route 175 is a bus line that will take you from the airport to the city.

First, when you are at the airport and must take the bus, get a ticket from a machine next to the bus stop. It's a single fare zone 1. costs 4.4 zl (ca. 1 €). Buses are going every 15 minutes and are extremely precise, so if you missed one, don't worry. When you get on the bus, locate the yellow controller box and put your ticket there. If you inserted it wrong, the box will beep; otherwise, it will print a date and time and return the ticket.

  • By taxi

The Chopin Airport recommends the services of the Elle Taxi corporation. It operates from arrivals outside the airport's main terminal. It is recommended to use their services and not any other company's (do not follow any touts in the terminal hall).

The cost of travel from the airport to the centre of Warsaw is approximately PLN 50 (ca. 12 €). Most taxis accept credit cards (Visa & Mastercard) but ask beforehand to ensure the particular driver accepts them.

  • By train

Trains depart every 10-12 minutes during peak times and every 15 minutes otherwise. Both the Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM; Warsaw's S-Bahn-like suburban railway system) and Koleje Mazowieckie (Mazovian Railways or KML; the provincial local train operator) operate trains to and from the airport.

The SKM offers the following connections from Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina:

  • Line S2 through Warszawa Zachodnia, Warszawa Śródmieście (walking distance to Warszawa Centralna), Warszawa Stadion, and Warszawa Wschodnia to Sulejówek Miłosna - trains every 30 minutes off-peak during day.
  • Line S3 through Warszawa Zachodnia, Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Wschodnia to Legionowo Piaski. This "express" train skips the local train stations between Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa Wschodnia, including Warszawa Stadion - trains every 30 minutes off-peak during the day.
